NuTMiC 2026: Number-Theoretic Methods in Cryptology

NuTMiC 2026 will be the fifth edition of a cycle of conferences on the application of number theory to cryptography and cryptanalysis. The first edition was held at the University of Warsaw in September 2017. The second edition took place at the Paris-Sorbonne University in June 2019. The third edition was held at the Adam Mickiewicz University in August 2022. The fourth edition took place at the Szczecin University in 2024. The 2026 edition of NuTMiC conference will take place in September 21–23, 2026 at the Institute of Mathematics of the University of Silesia.

Aim and scope

The NuTMiC conference series is designed to foster collaboration between the fields of Number Theory and Cryptology. Its goal is twofold: to examine how modern developments in Cryptology present new challenges for Number Theory, and to explore how Number Theoretic techniques can be applied to the development and evaluation of cryptographic systems and protocols. While the conference builds on established links between the disciplines—such as primality testing, factorization, elliptic and hyperelliptic curves, and lattices—it also aims to uncover new connections by introducing Number Theory tools and structures that have not yet been widely used in Cryptology. These novel intersections are expected to inspire the creation of more advanced, efficient, and secure cryptographic solutions. At the same time, tackling cryptographic problems may shed light on open questions and conjectures within Number Theory, pushing forward its theoretical frontiers.
